Strategic Buyer

A well-established, global manufacturer of state-of-the-art products and solutions are seeking a Strategic Buyer to define, develop, implement, and maintain a commodity strategy, in support of the organisations supply chain.

The successful candidate must be passionate about procurement and have a clear appreciation of the role functions in driving competitive advantage within a manufacturing organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define, develop, implement, and maintain a commodity strategy

  • Manage the overall business relationship with suppliers

  • Define and lead the supplier selection and de-selection process, including new supplier introduction

  • Negotiate and implement agreed Terms & Conditions

  • Compose tender documents /requests for quotation and subsequent bid analysis/negotiation

  • Monitor/evaluate global supplier performance, and lead development plans with suppliers

  • Work alongside the estimating function to provide accurate cost data in support of cost visibility

  • Consolidate requirements within the group, utilising group leverage/insourcing

Personal Specification:

  • Ideally 3 years+ experience in Procurement and Supply within a manufacturing organisation

  • A proven record of accomplishment in supply chain negotiations

  • Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance

  • Highly motivated and focused with attention to detail

  • Commercial acumen

  • Confidence to communicate with stakeholders at all levels and be an Ambassador for the company at all times

The following knowledge areas are considered desirable, but not essential for the role:

  • A degree/relevant commercial qualification/ postgraduate qualification

  • MCIPS qualified with experience in commodity management

  • ERP systems

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

  • AS9100 D Standard

  • Managing commodities such as machined components

  • Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009

  • ITAR and international export controls
