Motor Control Engineer

Motor Control Engineer - Surrey


We are seeking an experienced Motor Control Engineer to provide the technical lead for the development and modification of current and future motor control systems.


Key responsibilities


Lead the theoretical and practical design and implementation of closed loop servo control systems, utilising BLDC motors, with key areas including:



  • PID algorithm development for both analogue and digital systems.

  • Interfacing position and velocity encoders.

  • Low speed and high accuracy motor control systems.


Lead the development of embedded control systems, with key areas including:



  • Utilisation of low-power and resource processors for motor drive and control functions.

  • Ability to select the electronic hardware required to support the motor control system.

  • Identification and use of design tools necessary for implementing embedded control systems including TI Code Composer Studio IDE and version control tools.


Manage, successfully, the definition and delivery of technical work packages to scope, schedule and budget.

Key areas include:



  • Generation of quantifiable specifications based on internal or external customer requirements.

  • Presenting technical reports to customers, senior management and design teams.


Personal Profile


Qualifications



  • As a minimum degree qualified in a technical discipline and likely to have achieved a higher degree (MSc or similar) in a related area.


Previous Experience



  • Several years of experience in a motor control systems engineering environment.

  • Demonstrable experience in the development of motor control systems.


Attributes



  • Ability to interface with suppliers, partners and customers.

  • Strong communications skills and fluency in English both spoken and written.

  • Experience of operating in ISO 9001 environments and to industry specific standards.

  • Able to operate at all times in accordance with company values and behaviours
