Hybrid working conditions are currently in place which means working remotely and coming to the office when required.

Are you a strategic HR Business Partner looking to join a growing team? Do you enjoy working in a dynamic and complex environment?


The HR Team at the WMCA is growing and we're looking for an HR Business Partner to join a dedicated team of HR professionals.


This is a new position and will work alongside two HR Business Partners and report into the Head of HR, the team also includes a new Recruitment function.

As part of our growing team, we're implementing a new centralised HR service centre team to support first-line and transactional HR activity.


We want to enhance and grow the business partnering function of the HR team and provide a real value add service to the Combined Authority.

You'll be part of a new journey for the team and will have a significant impact on how we interact and partner with the organisation.


Your new role will enable you to operate as a true business partner with your directorates and work at a strategic level alongside the Head of HR.


Our Finance & Business Hub provides essential high-quality, responsive, and agile enabling services to the West Midlands Combined Authority and its directorates in areas such as human resources, procurement, commercial investments, assurance and appraisal, financial control and administration, and financial and business planning and performance reporting.


We are a cohesive team of forward-thinking, insightful, innovative and high-performing professionals who, through our consultative and business partnering approach, influence, support and coach managers and senior leaders to help them achieve business objectives.

By doing so, we help to ensure sound decisions are made and it is in this capacity that we are seen as a respected point of contact within the organisation.


About you


You'll be an experienced HR professional working at a senior level and be able to support your Head of HR on strategic activities.


Being able to build and maintain effective working relationships across the Combined Authority is key to project credibility of the team.

You'll be confident communicating with senior managers and be able to participate in leadership meetings in the absence of the Head of HR.


You'll have a flexible, consultative approach and understand the importance of partnering with your directorates to understand their current and future needs.

No two days will be the same and will need a calm, resilient individual who can manage multiple priorities and work with the HR team to deliver objectives.
